Kopimi is an expression of Generation X and the fine people involved with torrents, file sharing, live-blogging, culture jamming, live-casting.

Generation X is loosely characterized and defined as those who know the before and the now.  



This specific demographic can be seen as the intermediate between the previous "Baby Boomer" generation and the "Generation Y" children that have been born through the mid 90's and 2000's. 



Generation X is the last people to be born before the ubiquitousness of computers, the internet, cellular and the ever increasing technological thrust that we are experiencing cumulatively as a species. 



Generation X grew up in a world where books and brick and mortar schools were still the norm for disseminating information and TV and Radio are oriented towards entertainment and leisure. 



Gen X, while still young, also was exposed to the explosion of personal computing, the internet and the following explosion in the free flow of information. 



Gen X embodies the shift that is occurring in the human psych as a whole.  



We give little regard for the cultural norms which have been bestowed to us.  We see the value in the open and free flow of information and that anything that hinders the flow of data, also hinders the evolution of our species.  



Propriety, copy-write and trademark are all eroding facets of our human collective consciousness - facets of a bygone era and the Gen X demographic has little time for corporations or agencies that attempt to uphold the old paradigm of information creation and distribution.
